Nothing I Wouldn't Do For You

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara stood by the walk in closet as she finish buttoning her smock top. She was supposed to work the morning shift in the Emergency Department of Mercy General Hospital that morning. She turned a worried eye toward her boyfriend as she watched him tossing and turning in his sleep. He was never like this. They'd been living together for almost a year now and she'd never seen him like this. He never slept this late and he normally slept comfortably. Kiara walked over and sat on the edge of the bed beside her boyfriend, and gently shook his shoulder.

“John?” Kiara said softly. “Sweetheart wake up.”

John woke up quickly ''Morning already?'' he said with a very frogy voice

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara nodded. "Baby you don't sound too good," Kiara said. "Are you feeling alright?"

''not really I didnt sleep very well'' He cough very deeply

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara sighed and gently placed her hand on John's forehead. "Baby you're burning up!" Kiara gasped.

He sighed ''I guess im feeling a lil hot''

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

"Baby, you stay here, I'm gonna go call my boss and let her know I'm not coming in today," Kiara said.

''not its fine ill be fine'' he tried to sit up but had no energy at all

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

"John baby," Kiara said gently. "You need your rest and I'm not leaving you here like this."

he covered himself back up ''you sure?''

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

"John, I love you I'm not going to let you lie here and suffer all day," Kiara said. "I'm gonna be here to help you."

he smiled ''thank you''

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

"You know there's nothing I wouldn't do for you John," Kiara said.

''I know'' he said fighting another cough

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara quickly called her boss and explained the situation. She also asked about the symptoms of the latest bug going around so she'd know what to look out for. "Okay baby," Kiara said. "All set."

''alright'' he said with his eyes closed

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara walked over to the closet and pulled out her house call bag. Mercy General was on of the few hospitals that still did house calls. She rummaged through it until she found the thermometer and walked over to John. "Baby, open up for me, I wanna see how high that fever is," Kiara said.

''mmkay'' he opened his eyes a lil bit and his mouth

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara slipped the thermometer in John's mouth and sat down on the edge of the bed, gently stroking his hair while she waited for the temperature reading.

he waited as well eyed closed

[Dr. Kiara DiAvaro]

Kiara took the thermometer when it beeped and sighed at the 102.5 degree reading. "You just rest John, I'll get a better look at you after you've had some sleep," Kiara said.

He only nodded and went stright to sleep

Kiara went downstairs and grabbed a notebook to make a "chart" of sorts for her to keep track of John's vitals as the day progressed. She also wrote down all the symptoms her boss had given her earlier, checking off the ones she knew John already had.

John tossed and turned in his sleep

KIara went into the kitchen and started making homemade chicken noodle soup. She figured she'd try to get John to eat something when he woke up.
