Why Can't You See, You Belong With Me?

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

Dr. Jennifer "Jenna" Darling sat at her long time best friend Damien DeCarlo's bedside. Damien had been in a serious collision on his motorcycle earlier that afternoon. He wasn't wearing his helmet at the time of the collision, which Jenna knew was unlike him. He'd been at Mercy General for four hours by that point and he was still completely unresponsive. The longer he stayed that way the more of a chance there was that he would never wake up. Jenna took Damien's left hand in both of hers and squeezed in gently. "Damien," Jenna said softly, her voice shaking. "Damien, it's Jenna Bell you gotta wake up for me ," she pleaded. "C'mon, show me you're still in there, squeeze my hand if you can hear me."

Damien moved slightly at the sound of Jenna's voice but he didn't wake up.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"C'mon Damien," Jenna pleaded. "Come back to me please."

Damien groaned softly as he again moved slightly.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"I know you're in there," Jenna said, rubbing the back of his hand with her thumb. "You gotta prove these idiots I work with wrong, they don't think you'll wake up," she added. "but they don't know you like I do, you'll come back, I know it."

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien gave her hand a light squeeze, before groaning again.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

Jenna smiled. "there you go Damien that's it," Jenna said. "That's it."

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien opened his eyes but briefly but shut them again because of the brightness.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"Hey," Jenna said gently. "Welcome back, you had us scared for a while."

[Damien DeCarlo]

"What happened?" asked Damien softly, his whole body hurting.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"You were in an accident on your bike," Jenna said. "You don't remember?"

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien shook his head "No not really." he answered.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

This concerned Jenna. This was a sign of a serious head injury. "Do you know where you are?" Jenna asked.

[Damien DeCarlo]

"Yeah at the hospital you work at right?" he asked.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

Jenna nodded. "That's right," Jenna said. "What's the last thing you remember before you woke up?"

[Damien DeCarlo]

"Um i was getting on my bike." said Damien softly.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

Jenna nodded. "You weren't wearing your helmet, that's not like you."

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien nodded, he always wore his helmet but for some reason he didn't this time.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

Jenna got up and grabbed the light that hung on the cord on the wall. She knew she needed to look him over, she was still on the clock after all. "Damien, look at me," Jenna said.

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien looked her and groaned softly as the light hit his eyes.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"I know it's uncomfortable, but I have to do this to make sure you didn't do any serious damage," Jenna said, passing the light over his eyes a few times.

[Damien DeCarlo]

Damien nodded and let her finish it.

[Dr. Jenna Darling]

"Doesn't look like you've done anything," Jenna said. She sighed softly when she watched her ex walk past the room.

Damien frowned lightly as he saw another of her ex's walk by, why didn't she see that he loved her?

"What did I ever see in him?" Jenna muttered softly.
