The Lie Behind His Eyes

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

Emilia smiled as she waited for her father's car to pull up. Since her mother and her father had separated Jordan had been living with their father and his mother. She didn't mind the large age gap between them, 15 years to be exact, she loved Jordan nonetheless. She always felt like as long as Jordan was around somebody was going to need her. Little did she know, Jordan needed her now more than he ever did before.

4 year old Jordan bit his lip as they pulled up, he was a little scared but he got out of the car.

Emilia went downstairs and out to the front and greeted her baby brother with a smile. "Hey Jordan," Emilia said.

"Hi." Jordan said shyly as his dad handed her his bag.

Emilia eyed Jordan cautiously. He was normally bouncing into her arms. She took the bag in one hand and took Jordan's hand in the other. She led him into the house. "I missed you." Emilia said. It had been almost 2 months since Their father had allowed Emilia to see her brother.

"I really missed you too." Jordan said as he hugged her.

Emilia hugged her younger brother close. She could feel the heat coming off of him, but she chalk it up to being in the car with the heater on for 2 hours. After all, Jordan would tell her if he wasn't feeling well, wouldn't he?

Jordan had been sick for a few days but hadn't told anyone, he remember how their dad had lost his tremper the last time he had got sick.

Emilia gave a small smile. "You hungry?" she asked.

Jordan nodded "Yes please." he said softly.

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

"C'mon I'll go fix you something to eat," Emilia said. "What do you want?" she asked, heading to the kitchen.

"Can you make grilled cheese please?" Jordan asked.

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

"Of course," Emilia asked. She picked Jordan up and sat him on a bar stood at the bar in the center of the kitchen. When she did this his shirt rose and she noticed a bruise just below his ribs. "Jordan, what happened?" Emilia asked.

Jordan bit his lip "I fell off the slide at the park." he said quickly.

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

Emilia shook her head. She knew Jordan was lying. "Jordan.....don't lie to me," Emilia said.

Jordan bit his lip "Not lying sis please i'm being good." he said softly as he started to get scared.

Emilia had a feeling she knew what had happened, especially with Jordan's reaction. She got down to her brother's level. "Jordan," Emilia said. "Did daddy do that to you?"

Jordan bit his lip and nodded "I made him mad because i was being loud." he said softly.

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

Emilia sighed. "He still shouldn't have hurt you," Emilia said. "Was that the first time he's hurt you?"

Jordan shook his head "No daddy gets mad a lot."

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

"Oh Jordan..........." Emilia sighed. "You're not going back there with him," Emilia said firmly. "You'll stay here with us."

"But if i don't go back daddy will be really angry and might hurt someone else like momma or you." Jordan said.

[Dr. Emilia Rossi]

"I won't let that happen Jordan," Emilia said, starting on Jordan's grilled cheese. "I can't let him hurt you anymore."

Jordan nodded but he was still afraid, he then let out a small sneeze.
