Carter woke a hour later as he started to feel worse.

Dr. Delessio came in soon after and noticed Carter was getting paler. "Mr. Davidson, how are you feeling?" Dr. Delessio asked.

Dr. Delessio sighed and grabbed the temporal thermometer, knowing trying to get a thermometer in his mouth would have been pointless. She turned the device on and gently placed it on Carter's temple.

"Just relax," Dr. Delessio soothed softly. Carter may have been difficult, but she still wanted him to be comfortable.

Carter mumbled softly but relaxed before the thermometer finally beep.

Dr. Delessio shook her head at the 103.6 degree reading. "I need you to be honest with me Carter," Dr. Delessio said. "Other than the fever, is there anything else bothering you?"

Dr. Delessio nodded. "Your tonsils are probably swelling, which is putting extra pressure on you," she explained.

Carter gave a tired sigh before he nodded he waas to tired to fight with her.

Dr. Delesso smiled warmly at him, before beginning her work. She checked all the basics and recorded her findings before moving on to more Lymphoma specific symptoms. Very gently she tilted Carter's head back just a bit, gently prodding at the different lymph node clusters there. She new the most tender areas would probably receive a pained reaction from her patient.

Just as she'd suspected her hand currently rested right where his swollen tonsils resided. Normally her next step would be to go after a tongue depressor and get a better look at the swollen lymph nodes, but with a patient like Carter, she knew now wasn't the time. When he was calm enough to allow it, she'd take the next step, but she needed to get him to trust her a little more first.
